Handmade Ceramic Spoon Rest

A must for every kitchen, a unique handmade ceramic spoon rest decorated with lace imprint details. A great gift idea for anyone who loves and appreciates the handmade process and loves items that you can't find on the hight street. The spoon rests are made by rolling out the clay, cutting out the shape by hand, handpressing the lace into the clay to leave an imprint, and then wedging bits of dry clay to create the curved lip to keep the cooking utensil in place. These are then left to dry before their first firing. Once fired the lace imprint is hand glazed with a light coat of glaze before a dip in translucent glaze and a second firing to make them shiny and food safe. The clay used for these spoon rests is a red buff clay that when fired leaves natural red tones throughout the clay. Please note that as the spoon rests are handmade there will be slight variations in the form, texture, pattern and marks left by the handmade process. This is what makes each piece unique, gives character and makes it individual. I would advise that if the spoon rests need a wash this is done by hand in warm soapy water and NOT placed in a dishwasher. Dimensions: 21 cm x 10 cm (at widest point) Handmade in my studio. No matter how big or small the ceramic item, each piece is hand-pressed by myself, dried, fired, glazed with 3 coats of glaze and fired again.
